ARMY VETERAN TAKES DELIVERY OF THIRD PRECISION REHAB POWERCHAIR - Oct 2023
Army veteran Ray Collister MBE from Tamworth has recently taken delivery of his third powerchair from Precision Rehab – a Permobil F5 and loves it.
As a result of spinal damage combined with serious issues with his knees and shoulder, Ray left the army after 25 years of service and set up a picture framing business and art gallery. In addition to running his successful businesses, Ray is a passionate fundraiser and over the last 20 years he has raised over £11,000,000.00 for various good causes.
Ray has known Matt for over 15 years so when he knew it was time to change his powerchair Ray got in touch with Matt who recommended the Permobil F5.
The F5 is the third powerchair he has bought from Matt, and he is delighted with it: “A reliable powerchair and excellent after-sales support is vital to me as I can only walk about 20 meters unaided so without my chair, I am literally stranded. I have had the F5 for a couple of months and I can honestly say it is an awesome powerchair and the best one I have ever had. The technology is amazing and for me personally, the positional memory settings are a real game changer – instead of setting all the various seat positions when I get in the chair, Matt programmed them all into the memory when he delivered the F5, so I literally press a button, and the chair moves to the set position. It is hard to explain just how important the correct seating position is and the frustration of trying to find it has been removed thanks to the F5”.
The Permobil range of powerchairs are among the most technically advanced currently available. Should the client have a technical issue, there is no need for an engineer to visit in person as the Permobil powerchairs can be accessed remotely, enabling the engineer to diagnose the issue and change programme and software settings if necessary.
This software also means that the activity of the chair can be monitored to ensure the client is using it correctly and getting the most out of the many functions. As with every powerchair from Precision Rehab the F5 has been tailored to meet Ray’s requirements and this involved the fitting of a Rear View Camera (as Ray struggles to turn his head), crutch holder, armrest bag and Bodylink thigh and headrest pads for added support.
Fully independent suspension on all wheels of the F5 ensures a smooth ride and is especially beneficial for active outdoor users, or users of alternative controls such as chin steering while the seat tilts forward by up to 45° and raises to enables the user to engage with people and enjoy day to day activities.
“I would not hesitate in recommending Precision Rehab and the Permobil F5 to anyone looking for the latest in powerchair technology that offers superb levels of comfort and performance backed up by a company that really does know what it is talking about” concluded Ray.
“It is great to hear how happy Ray is with his F5 and the fact this is the third powerchair we have delivered to Ray shows we must be doing something right. Permobil is the latest manufacturer to join the growing Precision Rehab powerchair portfolio and we expect it to be extremely popular with our clients, and the people involved in their day-to-day care” commented Founder and Director Matt James.
